In Scotland we have a serious problem our nornally very patriotic people are becoming more and more american by the day..Walking amonsgt these people who seem to have abandoned their Scottish accent for a false mid-Atlantic twang..peppered with OMG!... That's kinda cool and/or that's so totally not cool ect ..I tell you listening to this is enough to make a truly proud Scot feel like throttling these eejits...Its obvious to me and my Scots friends & family, who want to retain their very sexy and attractive accents, that these pseudo yanks, are unhappy with their identity as Scots and would rather be anyone but themselves..Why when we are 1 of the most popular races on earth astounds us..
Scots are 1 of the most popular races on earth? Really??? And that is according to which legitimate resource exactly? LOL you don't count as legitimate resource Goblin, sorry! Star
To be honest, Goblin, even I think it's annoying knowing that a lot of the world is being Americanized. There's already a Seaworld theme park in Mexico for example. I'm not saying countries shouldn't progress or not open places similar to here if they wanted to, etc. But it's like you would be able to find a McDonald's, watch various American shows, and have a station playing American music almost anywhere. Therefor, with all the American stuff going around, I wouldn't be surprised people are picking up on the language we use. I have a friend in South Africa, and if it wasn't for his British spelling and later hearing him talk, I would've almost thought he went from here to South Africa instead of being born there. He wants to learn Spanish (wich isn't my first language, but I want him to teach me Afrikaans as I think that's his first language, so I think that'd be more interesting. But yeah, my point is that I don't like it much either. I mean, it's one thing to know something interesting about a country, but then to want to travel and knowing I'd likely find the same things I'd find at home would make me wonder what's the point of going anywhere then, or where can I go where it's not Americanized.

New Zealand and Australia are very much themselves, and I can't see either country falling for the theme park Macdonalds nonsense... I think This problem could be blamed on our tv, which is polluted by american stlye shows and apart from E.R, they all seem to be vaccuous guff. Glasgow is selling itself as the style capital of europe, and to that end, the council have employed an american to tell us how to sell ourselves jeez as if the Scots don't know how to market something!..
Hmm many still see america as the land where they can be successful and that lie has been encouraged with successive generations emigrating to america or being transported there I.E as part of the Highland clearences....american influence is destroying so many nationalities its a kind of insidious manipulation by america to control and assimliate every country into their way of life...this smacks of insecurity and a great distrust of other cultures...
